Our Cannabis Mission & Values

Mission

Our mission is to provide consultation, education and leadership in the medical cannabis industry. We promote functional and sustainable whole plant healthcare best practices to help patients build their endocannabinoid system, reach healthcare goals and improve overall wellbeing.

Values

As nursing professionals, we have taken an oath to do no harm. At Cannabis Nurses we strive to match patients with functional and sustainable healthcare options.

  • We focus on cannabis therapy. Current standard medical treatment does not aim to treat the whole patient and treat underlying disease.
  • We believe that the human body can heal itself through the Endocannabinoid System and sustainable health related practices.
  • With chronic pain and polypharmacy on the rise, the time is now to advocate for and help those in need before it is too late.
  • Preventative sustainable medicine in healthcare is what we promote.

Nursing Background

I’ve worked as a nurse for the past 15 years with training in the operating room, cardiac surgery ICU, education and holistic health/wellness.

While working in the OR and ICU, I really gained an appreciation for medicine and the human body’s ability to adapt. I respect Western medicine and it’s place in the toolbox for trauma, but I always had an inner desire to do better for our patients. The revolving door of disease and medication was not sustainable. We had to do better. We needed to be proactive and less reactive when it comes to healthcare and quality of life. People are suffering and desperate for functional relief. This is where my purpose resides.

I decided that Cannabis Nursing was the answer to my purpose. I graduated with my certificate in cannabis nursing and identified a need for trained healthcare professionals to be a resource for people. The laws and red tape a patient has to navigate in the industry is puzzling enough, but once you make it to the counter how do they know what to choose? Are there any contraindications they may have? How do they reach their healthcare goals? Are there alternatives to opioids for pain? That’s where we come in. We are a one stop consultation resource service of trained nurses that can help you safely and confidently navigate the industry. Saving you time and money. So you can focus on living your best life.

Healing Myself with Cannabis

I had suffered a knee injury and labral hip tear which took me out of work and unable to manage simple daily activities. With the help of modern medicine (MRI, X-ray, Synvisc injection and PT) I was told that I would likely need surgery and to take Ibuprofen and Tylenol daily, as needed. I didn’t want to take lots of pain meds and couldn’t take time off work or from being a mother to have surgery. I was concerned there were no other options. After 3 months, I started to look further into what I’d been hearing about benefits of cannabinoids and can help with pain. I started to treat myself, low and slow, listening to my body and allowing to heal itself. I really had no guidance with using plant therapy and therefore had to “weed” through quite a few products before I found the right ones for me. After a month of therapy I was 100% back to normal and I had no pain in my hip or knee. I actually felt better than before my injury. This was the type of nursing I wanted to do. To truly help people heal themselves.

Cannabis Education

I graduated from Pacific College with a Medicinal Cannabis Certificate for health care workers. My program focused on:

  • How to best make cannabis recommendations safely
  • How to boost your own endocannabinoid system to promote homeostasis
  • Helping people establish their own cannabinoid and terpene profiles
  • Cannabis laws and legislation
